The American Society of Travel Agents is rebranding as the American Society of Travel Advisors, part of a number of coming changes, the group said in a statement. https://bit.ly/2vw57ic
"It's a reflection of the evolution of our industry," ASTA President and CEO Zane Kerby told TravelPulse. "The internet came along and gave consumers direct access to suppliers so in some ways it reduced the need for a travel agent but it actually increased the need for a travel advisor."
The choice of the word advisor was based on responses from online polling and focus groups, according to TravelPulse. Alternatives included agent, planner, and consultant.
The Management Association has changed its name to HR Source. The group represents 1,200 Chicago-area employers.
CEO Mary Lynn Fayoumi said the rebrand is the result of a yearlong initiative.
"Following extensive research with our stakeholders, including the companies and organizations we currently serve, it became clear that HR Source better describes who we are and what we do. It's more memorable and more easily rolls off the tongue and fingertips of anyone who wants to find us," she said. "HR Source is an already familiar term to the association's customers and members. It has served as the group's web address and email domain for almost 20 years."
Four companies have formed a new energy-efficiency verification group called Leading Raters of America.
The Fairfax, Va.-based association was formed by PEG, LLC, Energy Inspectors Corp., TopBuild Home Services and US-EcoLogic/TexEnergy, according to a statement. The first board meeting will take place August 20-21 in Las Vegas and will focus on promoting best practices in the provision of energy-rating services, the statement said.
